I want to share my 20+ years of experience growing annuals, perennials, trees, and shrubs by highlighting varieties that perform well and exciting new products I’m loving this season.

I look for hardiness, overall appeal, and performance. Sometimes I’ll also share plants I’ve grown in my own garden. As Alberta gardeners, we all know how short our season is, so I hope these picks help make your gardening season even more beautiful.

Coleus - Skeletal

New for 2026!
A truly unique coleus with an eye-catching pattern that is growing very well so far. Another great sun-tolerant coleus for our region. Our website photo doesn’t do it justice.

HB - No Fuss 15" Hanging Basket

A Calgary Plants original design. Suitable for part shade to full sun, this beauty is already showing great performance. Best of all, it’s low maintenance — no deadheading needed, just easy, soothing appeal.

Container - Amazonas Breeze

A 13" container with beautiful colour combinations. These containers are filling out nicely, and in just a few more weeks they will be stunning.

Perennial - Bugbane ‘Brunette’

This perennial has it all — fragrant dark chocolate-purple foliage that contrasts beautifully with its white flower spikes. It’s a Zone 4 variety and may benefit from a bit of shelter, but it’s absolutely stunning.

HP - Impatiens Sanibel Mix

A new hanging pouch variety that I’m very impressed with. Since it does well in part shade, it will also need less watering. The colour mix is beautiful, and as you can see, it’s already blooming.
