They are a good choice for attracting hummingbirds to your yard, but are not particularly attractive to deer who tend to leave them alone in favor of tastier treats. Gardeners should be aware of the following characteristic(s) that may warrant special consideration:
Gallery™ Mix Lupines are recommended for the following landscape applications:
Planting & Growing
Gallery™ Mix Lupines will grow to be about 18-23 inches tall at maturity extending to 24 inches tall with the flowers, with a spread of 12-18 inches. When grown in masses or used as a bedding plant, individual plants should be spaced approximately 14 inches apart. They grow at a fast rate, and under ideal conditions can be expected to live for approximately 3 years.
These plants do best in full sun to partial shade. They do best in average to evenly moist conditions, but will not tolerate standing water. They are not particular as to soil pH, but grow best in clay soils. They are somewhat tolerant of urban pollution. Parts of Lupines are known to be toxic to humans and animals, so care should be exercised in planting it around children and pets.
