Why are they called daylilies? The elegant blooms of hemerocallis only last for a day, but because the plants produce so many flowers the display can last for weeks.

Some tips on growing daylilies:
- Daylilies prefer well-drained, fertile soil, but they will still thrive in poor soils or clay.

- Water your daylilies to protect them from drying out in the summer months.
